About Hawkswood
Country Estate
Hawkswood Country Estate is a family business, developed and run by the Ainscough family.
We first discovered the grounds in 2006. At the time, the two buildings that would become Hawkswood House and The Roundel were semi-derelict farm buildings – that had been used as stables, dog kennels and cowsheds over the years.
But we could see the potential the buildings and grounds promised.
After a year of complex planning, we began to refurbish the buildings in early 2007. The family patriarch John Ainscough has a background in construction and led the redevelopment.
Refurbishment lasted until 2009. Originally envisioned as private rentals, we converted them to holiday lets in 2014.
From a couple of derelict farm buildings, came the luxurious holiday rentals at Hawkswood Country Estate.
About the
Ainscough family
Mary-Jo Ainscough-McGaw is the General Manager at Hawkswood Country Estate, and shares responsibility for the everyday running of the estate with sister Lauren.
They are on hand to greet guests, help with bookings and can arrange our private chefs for your party.
Father of the family John Ainscough, who led the redevelopment of the properties, continues to take a hands-on role. If you and your party need to travel in our luxury Mercedes mini coach, it will be John that drives you.
If you choose a hearty full Scottish breakfast, this will be prepared by John.
He even built the driving range in the estate, where you can work on your game before taking on any of the 50 or so golf courses around Fife.
Staying at
Hawkswood Country Estate
When you stay at Hawkswood Country Estate, you can expect luxury.
Each of the three buildings includes five en-suite bedrooms, with living and dining areas so your group can come together and plan the day’s activities. And there is a lot to do in Fife.
The properties include their own private BBQ area, and hot tubs to wash away any aches and pains.
While the properties share the same level of luxury, each has unique features.
The Roundel offers panoramic views from the living/dining area. Hawkswood House features a large terrace balcony. Bowhill House includes a games room with a full size snooker table.
We cater for all sorts of events, from weddings to family reunions and from Christmas breaks to corporate retreats.
