Outlander filiming locations
in Fife
The historic town of Falkland in Fife is seen throughout Outlander – standing in for 1940s to 1960s Inverness.
The Covenanter Hotel in Falkland was seen as Mrs Baird’s guesthouse. The Bruce Fountain outside Falkland Palace also features on the show.
The 12th century Aberdour Castle features as the monastery where Jamie recovers after prison. This is a must-see Outlander filming location, and is open to visitors all year round.
Culross has served as many different locations, making it one of the most important places to visit during Outlander holidays in Scotland.
The Mercat Cross area of Culross is the location of the village of Cranesmuir and also served as the Jacobite encampment.
The scenes in 1740s Le Havre were filmed at Dysart Harbour. The harbour is on the Fife Coastal Path.
The boat The Reaper, which features in the scenes filmed in Dysart, can be seen at the Scottish Fisheries Museum in Anstruther.
